Masole Ammele firstly selects local fish species that are being threatened due to overfishing and pollution. The enterprise then trains village members on organic fish farming according to permaculture principles, using affordable local input resources in an effort to conserve aquatic ecosystems.
In self-managed groups, villagers take care of the ponds and sell the fish to local markets, transferring twenty five percent of all sales back to the enterprise while The enterprise also has fish ponds and a modeled hatchery to breed these fish species and provide to farmers and other customer locally and globally. Due to lack of information and inputs, we have developed a web-based Information and input for sustainable aquaculture online platform which uses the virtual aquaculture advisory service (VAAS) for accurate and up to date agriculture extension services locally and globally. This allows aquaculture farmers access to a pool of information from international experts at a lower cost.
