Mama’s Creation Foods is a specialty food company supporting a healthy, gender-equitable, and resilient food system. We’re increasing access to nutritious and functional African foods by encouraging women farmers to cultivate nutritious crops that have health benefits on a sustainable commercial basis. Then we craft easy-to-use functional food products with the value-added ingredients we ethically source from the women.

In addition, we encourage women to work in the value-addition part of the African agricultural value chain. This women-driven local value addition reduces post-harvest loss, encourages off-farm employment for women, prolongs the storage life of these agricultural products, and promotes the availability of nutritious food products all year round. Lastly, most of our target crops can withstand drought. By giving these women access to formal and premium markets for the crops, in minimally processed forms, we are bolstering the climate resilience of our food system.
