In northwest Zambia, beekeepers cut down trees to make traditional beehives leading to deforestation. Due to the high labor intensity involved in making such hives, this practice leads to limited expansion opportunities for local beekeepers.
At Kalkap Honey Enterprise, we make Topbar beehives to produce honey. We train local beekeepers about sustainable beekeeping practices and empower them with our Topbar hives which are last more than 5 years compared to the traditional hives that are only used once in a year. Our hives are made using pine trees thereby preserving indigenous trees in the forest. After honey harvesting, we source honey from these local beekeepers at competitive prices thus empowering them and offering them market opportunities.
we generate revenue through selling our raw honey to customers.
