JAYAGRIC helps smallholder farmers in Tanzania grow more and spend less by replacing one-size-fits-all fertiliser advice with recommendations matched to their own soil. Most farmers still follow blanket national fertiliser recommendations. But soils vary field to field, and research in Tanzania shows blanket advice is often unfit and too costly — over 20% of soils don’t even respond to standard NPK. The soil testing that would fix this is scarce, slow and unaffordable for smallholders, and there are too few extension officers to reach them. We close that gap. JAYAGRIC pairs affordable soil testing with a decision engine that turns a farmer’s location and soil test into a clear plan: which fertiliser and how much, which crop variety, and whether lime or gypsum is needed. The engine is built on Tanzania’s national soil maps, agro-ecological zones and the official TFRA fertiliser register, and it catches problems blanket advice misses — acidity, salinity, phosphorus lock-up.
