InnoHeza Ltd. Africa in Mind

InnoHeza Ltd. is a Rwanda-based med-tech startup founded by clinicians and biomedical innovators from the East Africa Biodesign Fellowship. We’re tackling postpartum hemorrhage (PPH)—the leading cause of maternal death in Sub-Saharan Africa—by developing OctoPress, a simple, fast, and usable uterine suction tamponade (UST) device that controls life-threatening bleeding in minutes without escalation to surgery. Designed for midwives and built for low-resource settings, OctoPress is compatible with existing suction systems and targets a unit cost under $50. We’ve filed provisional patents in Rwanda and Kenya, begun preclinical testing, and are preparing for Rwanda FDA approval. We’re raising $500K to finalize design, manufacture units for clinical trials, and register the product locally. Join us in saving mothers’ lives with African-born innovation.
