In Muhanga district agriculture is by far the most common economic activity with 78 % of the workforce being involved in agricultural activities; the government of Rwanda make a huge effort to improve agriculture productivity in this district through capacity building of farmers, subvention of agriculture inputs, providing improved seeds, Despite the effort made this sector still face the challenges such as soil acidity, soil erosion, insufficient land for agriculture, lack of conservation and agriculture processing; usually the farmers grow the vegetables in marshlands and upland depending on rain fed during the rainy season they face the challenge of surplus of production and during the dry season the production reduce this lead to food insecurity and malnutrition especially for children under 5 year old including the pregnant women .
