ICT for Development Kenya Training rural youth on technology for job creation

In Kenya, ICT for Development teaches youth from rural areas how to use technology to create jobs. In order to do this, our model deploys mobile IT labs that travel from village to village each month. We offer three-hour classes during that time from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., giving youth flexibility in their attendance. We charge our students an average of $15, and we regularly have hundreds of students. Since we started doing this actively eleven years ago, we have trained over 100,000 youth, of whom 81% have found employment, 6% have started their own businesses, and 2% are currently enrolled in IT programs at universities and colleges.
