Presently Nigeria risks food shortage and escalating economic tension due to the food supply deficit especially from indigenous sources. Farmpadi enables under-served farmers optimize inputs, improve farm yields and local food supply by connecting them with an SMS and sensor-based monitoring device that provides them a prompt and better knowledge, information and early warnings on their farm condition.
The Farmpadi device senses and controls pest invasion, measures soil humidity, temperature and weather forecast and sends that data to the cloud where it can be accessed by a farmer or its investor using basic mobile phones or advanced devices.
The farm data is also sent to a Farmpadi Project Officer (FAPO) who also analyzes and interprets the data, engages, educates and informs the farmer on the farm condition and best farming practices using the farmer’s local dialect.
