Dhako Hana Clg Girls rise, the world shines

Dhaka Hana is a woman led and women focused organization, with the aim of empowering women and girls in rural Kenya. We do this through career progression training, sexual and reproductive health rights education and financial empowerment programs. In the communities we serve, 18% to 50% of the girls get pregnant at least once between the age of 14-19. About 21% of the girls will get married between 14 and 19, with 9.1% of these getting married before they are 14. The contributory factors are poverty, low education, repugnant cultures and lack of sexual and reproductive education. Dhako Hana provides a direct solution to low education and sexual and reproductive education. Indirectly, we also tackle some repugnant cultures with the help of the parents and community leaders. With proper funding, we will be able to maintain a consistent enforcement of our programs and drastically reduce the numbers currently.
