Livestock is a high-value asset, approximately 70% of Africans depend upon livestock for food and income. However, farmers are losing approximately 25% of their livestock to disease. Many of the losses are entirely preventable through vaccination, but due to inefficiencies in the supply chain, many farmers do not have access to vaccines. It is estimated that this amounts to an annual loss of $2bn of income for smallholder farmers. As a result, they struggle to grow enough to even feed their families
Cowtribe has built a smart supply chain and logistics platform that efficiently provides livestock vaccines and other inputs to rural farmers in Ghana. Additionally, Cowtribe provides farmers with educational voice messages and helps them make vaccine purchases in small increments through a mobile-based layaway model.
