We propose to deploy 42 minigrids. eliminate 200+ diesel powered maize mills and generators for irrigation and other productive uses. The Minigrids will also reduce kerosene and candle use. Introduction of e-cooking is expected to reduce reliance on firewood and charcoal, resulting in restoration of carbon sinks. Secondly we propose to distribute 10,000 biogas systems in prisons, hospitals, schools, farms, households which use 115-150kg of food waste or 70-80kg of livestock manure each. They will be delivered with biogas stoves and a programme on utilization and distribution of bio fertilizer. This is expected to reduce GHG emissions (methane and CO2). We already have a partnership with Department of Prisons to install bio-digesters in all its 28 prisons and save trees (up to 1,500 tons use for cooking/day). Thirdly, we propose to distribute 20,000 cookstoves/year (Chitetezo Mbaula or the TLC Rocket Stove with 24% and 34.5% thermal efficiency respectively in Lilongwe and Zomba cities.
