
2 years ago, during my research study on perishable goods, I realized that in Burundi over 60% of chili produces , an equivalent of over $20M go to waste every year through rooting due to lack of access to direct market or local companies adding value to chili produced locally, what create an endless chain of poverty. Unfortunately, growing up ,I realized that this is a story of thousands of of chili farmers whose hope of farming got due the post-harvest losses . On the other hand ,I got so shocked , to find out that Burundi used to spend over $18 M USD in import of chili oil From Rwanda , which doesn’t make sense for me to spend such amount in import of chili yet chili farmers are missing a local industry to add value to chili and create a sustainable market .Therefore , this is where we come in , Our solution consists of adding value to chili by turning it into chili oil , chili based essential oil , powder and eco-friendly chili based pesticides.
