AKON Food Manufacturing Initiative is a planned food manufacturing hub in Juba, South Sudan, focused on replacing imported bakery and biscuit products with locally produced, high-quality alternatives.

South Sudan currently relies heavily on imported bread, buns, and biscuits from neighboring countries such as Uganda and Kenya. This creates high prices, unstable supply, and limited local industrial growth.

AKON will establish a modern production facility powered by a hybrid energy system and designed for scalable expansion. The first production lines will focus on bread, toast, burger buns, and biscuits — the most demanded products in the market.

The facility is designed not only as a factory but as a future regional food industrial hub capable of processing local crops such as cassava and maize and expanding into additional food product lines.

The project targets an initial market share of 5–8% of the bakery market in Juba with strong growth potential across Central Africa
