Nigeria’s estimated population of 210 million (20% of Africa) has 23,640 healthcare facilities including over 15,000 hospitals and approximately 5,000 testing labs, of which very few provide specialized molecular diagnostics (MD), DNA testing (DT) and Newborn Health Screening (NBHS) services locally. Most healthcare facilities lack equipment, skilled personnel and volume of samples to provide molecular diagnostics, DNA testing and Newborn Health Screening. AMT plans to set up local a molecular testing laboratory combined with a national digital and logistics platform to seamlessly collect, aggregate, test and deliver results for MD, DT and NBHS in Nigeria. Planned rapid growth is envisioned from domestic sample analysis, competitive pricing, and fast turnaround time, which provides an opportunity to organize the market as a leader and solve pain points for the healthcare sector.
