Promoting SDG-aligned finance and drives active collaboration
The SDG Finance Geneva Summit (SGS Geneva) promotes SDG-aligned finance and drives active collaboration between decision-makers from the financial sector and the development community. UNDP Geneva launched the SGS Geneva in 2016 to advance the aim of sourcing impact driven and bankable ventures from developing countries and mobilizing private capital to accelerate the implementation of the SDGs.
In 2019, UNDP Geneva launched the Growth Stage Impact Ventures (GSIV) program, identifying, showcasing and advocating for increased investments in ventures that develop at scale solutions for the SDGs in developing countries.
SDG INNOVATIONS: A large majority of participants see the pitches of the GSIV entrepreneurs as a unique value added of the event, saying that they provide access to SDG innovations they would not otherwise have access to. More than 35% of the investors attending the summit comes to source investment opportunities.
NETWORKING PLATFORM: SGS Geneva offers valuable networking opportunities among ventures, investors, financial institutions, large corporates and the UN system, leading to partnership development. More than 50% attendees share that they had insightful conversations with entrepreneurs and experts from the financial sector.
KNOWLEDGE SHARING OPPORTUNITY: Participants become more eager to exchange knowledge on innovative financing in the field of sustainability. 77% said that the Summit enhanced their understanding of SDGs and impact finance.
