Together we can create a better future!
The Future City of Africa is a huge challenge, but also a unique opportunity to rethink the African city of the future, jumping over the mistakes of the 20th century in Europe and the US and create a 21st century city based on African needs, African culture and African environment. Africa has already taken the lead when it comes to mobile banking and mobile health. New solutions are being developed and implemented in Africa. The rapid development of the cities in Africa open up the same opportunities, redesigning the city based on the latest mobile and sensor technologies and the internet of things. African cities are not stuck in infrastructure in the same way as European and American cities which gives them a big advantage to get ahead in developing the smart city of the future. That is why we are setting up a conference which we call “The Future City of Africa” where we bring together the brightest minds of Africa, along with policy makers, entrepreneurs and investors, not only from Africa but also from Europe and all the way from Silicon Valley. The conference is set up by Phønix, the international place branding panel, in partnership with one of the leading cities in Africa – Nairobi, a ground breaking university when it comes to urban planning and sustainable development, and leading companies in smart cities and infrastructure development. We will be bringing in over 40 top speakers from all over Africa and beyond. The host of the conference is Dr. Evans Kidero, governor of Nairobi. See the already announced speakers and click AGENDA here to see more about the four main themes of the conference.
