Energising Development Kenya Programme (EnDev Kenya), implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is seeking for enterprises to participate in the Social Impact Incentives (SIINC) Results-based Financing (RBF) Pilot Project.

The objective of the SIINC pilot project is to provide Social Impact Incentives as a form of ‘proof-of-concept’ to initially up to three selected energy enterprises in the course of 2020-2022 based on measurable impact achievement that is to be defined with the applicants. The amount of SIINC incentive payments provided by the pilot project to leverage commercial investment will be in the range of EUR 100,000 to EUR 225,000.

Who can participate?

This call for Expression of Interest (EoI) is targeting enterprises that focus on providing decentralized renewable energy solutions to low income consumers. EnDev will support them with results-based incentive payments for positive social outcomes. Examples for social outcomes include, but are not limited to, households’ energy expenditure savings, income from productive use of energy, increase of agricultural production output or job creation. To qualify, the applicants must be able to meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Legal business entity incorporated in Kenya
• Business operations in Kenya for at least 2 years
• Annual turnover of at least EUR 150,000 in at least one year of operations

How to submit?

Interested enterprises should send an email by 2nd October 2020 with the subject “SIINC Pilot Project – 83363347” to KE_Inquiry@giz.de to request for the application documents (incl. submission details). The application documents shall be sent to the applicants within 10 working days after the receipt of the request.

Submission Deadline for EoIs is the 20th October 2020.
