Eligibility Criteria

  • Participants should address one or more of these categories:
  • The business must be between 0-5years and the Founder must be aged 18-40years
  • Open to startups, innovators, and teams working in the agribusiness or food systems sector
  • Participants must be based in Lagos or have projects impacting Lagos agrifood system
  • Must be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)
  • Must be registered with Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASSRA)
  • Participants must have an innovative solution addressing a critical challenge in agriculture or food systems

Focus Areas

Participants should address one or more of these categories:

  • Sustainable Agriculture: Solutions for soil health, water management, and eco-friendly farming practices
  • Food Production across value chains
  • Agri-fintech: Financial tools and services for farmers and agribusinesses.
  • Precision Farming: Use of IoT, AI, and other technologies to enhance productivity
  • Supply Chain & Logistics: Innovations in storage, transportation, and distribution
  • Food Security: Tackling hunger, reducing food waste, and improving affordability
  • Agri-data Analytics: Leveraging data to optimize farming practices and decision-making.
  • Value Addition: Processing and packaging solutions to increase product value

Competition Stages

  • Application Stage – Participants submit online applications, including detailed project descriptions, business models, and impact projections.
  • Shortlisting – Top applicants are selected based on innovation, feasibility, and scalability.
  • Screening– Shortlisted candidates pitch their ideas to a panel of industry experts for evaluation.
  • Mentorship Phase – Selected candidates participate in a mentorship program with industry experts to refine their ideas.
  • Pitch Day – Finalists present their solutions to a panel of judges, including industry leaders, investors, and policymakers.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Innovation: How unique and creative is the solution?
  • Feasibility: Can the solution be implemented successfully within the Nigerian agricultural context?
  • Scalability: Does the idea have the potential to impact a large number of stakeholders?
  • Supply Chain & Logistics: Innovations in storage, transportation, and distribution
  • Sustainability: Does the solution align with sustainable agricultural practices?
  • Market Viability: Is there a clear business model and market potential?
  • Presentation: Clarity, confidence, and ability to convey the idea effectively during the pitch.
