What is Reto PAIS?
Reto PAIS is a national program and competition executed by Impact Hub San José, which, for its acronym, Award for Social Innovation (PAIS), invites the Costa Ricans to propose innovative ideas for urgent social and environmental problems to be solved in Costa Rica.
What are the sectors in which solutions should be focused?
The solutions proposed for this edition must respond to the needs of some of the These 5 sectors:
- Agroindustry
- Orange Economy
- Education
- Health
- Tourism
Who can participate?
A person or team of people with an idea or solution with a social or environmental impact can participate and be related to any of the sectors in this fourth edition.
There is no age restriction to send the application. Physical figures, as well as enterprises, micro and small enterprises, young or newly established, can participate with less than 30 months of having been constituted with this legal card.
If your idea is selected as a finalist for the CHALLENGE COUNTRY Program, you will have to check that it belongs to one of the categories validated in Law 8634.

- Custom 4-month companion incubate the idea proposed and build the prototype development plan with which the funds will be used non-reimbursable by Impact Hub San Jose
- Financial Mentoring Program
- Legal Advisory to Start the Company
- Access to expert and expert people to close their incubation and prototyping gaps by Imagine XYZ
- Each winning person selected in the Premiation Event will receive up to $10,000 of non-refundable funds, for the development of a functional prototype of the proposed idea for Reto PAIS, product of the Banking System for Development-Impact Hub San Jose.
- Connections with the impact investment ecosystem for the next stage of development of your prototype
