GDG Cochabamba

Group made up of students, professionals and enthusiasts dedicated to design, development and experimentation with products from Google and others.

2012 was born GDG Cochabamba and since its creation it is showing that it can grow rapidly. Today, there are more than 100 people registered on the page and every day the number of people who want to be part of this community increases.

As GDG Cochabamba, the first Google DevFest was organized and carried out, with an attendance of more than 200 people, the majority of students in the computer science area, as well as professionals and entrepreneurs working in the field.

This way gave rise to similar events in other cities; such is the case of the city of La Paz in whose DevFest participated members of the GDG Cochabamba making known Google technologies and organizing workshops.

One of the goals of 2012 was to be listed in the official GDG’s directory of Google (http://goo.gl/MujlE) and to make themselves known in the local media, so thanks to the support of the people GDG Cochabamba is now part of the official directory of GDG’s and is established as a community in the local environment.

It was also the first year that one of our organizers was able to attend the GDG organizers ‘ meeting worldwide at the Google offices in Mountain View, where it was possible to learn and be part of this unique experience. representing not only GDG Cochabamba but Bolivia as a whole.

New goals are continuously being met and new objectives are to be achieved. We want to spread and make known a little more what the GDG Cochabamba is and in general what the GDGs are, for which we organize monthly meetings where we will talk about Google technologies, as far as possible trying to cover the most technologies that Google offers. There will also be a summary of global events of the month and future events that call people’s attention.

You want to interact with other countries to share information and gain more experience, that’s why you’re already organizing meetings with members of other GDGs to be able to share exhibitors and material with neighboring countries, either in-person or through Hangouts.

It is known that the BootCamps and Startup Weekends are a great help for developers and entrepreneurs that is why this year is planning to organize at least one BootCamp and a Startup Weekend, so that the gap between business and academia is closer, since these events benefit all.

Also, as GDG Cochabamba is thought to interact and engage academic entities in the medium for the generation of projects based on Google technologies, this way the culture of developing and undertaking Open Source projects will be supported.
