Firebird Turnaround Fund – Investment Thesis 

Firebird Turnaround Fund is a debt and equity fund investing in non-performing loans and businesses in South Africa.  If businesses show a track record of good profits before current distress, and we can see a fix, we intervene to return them to fair value.  Even good, well established businesses can get into a distressed situation – over-gearing, fraud, poor management, shareholder, funder and board disputes. The Fund targets deals with entry valuations at a discount to NAV and exit on a far higher traditional multiple valuations basis. We do this through balance sheet restructuring, compromises and active intervention using select partners.  We partner with experts and have a network of investment professionals, business rescue practitioners and experienced CEO’s and CFO’s to parachute into every target business to restore value and create sustainable growth.
