empowering people. Network

Technologies for basic needs

Millions of people face immense basic supply challenges on a daily
basis. These could be met successfully through appropriate technological
solutions. Such solutions cannot only provide the chance to level out
acute deficits but also offer diverse opportunities for independent
economic activities and an urgently needed generation of income.

With the “empowering people. Network – Technologies for Basic Needs”,
Siemens Stiftung aims to make promising solutions accessible and further
their successful implementation on the basis of sustainable
entrepreneurship models.

The “empowering people. Network”

– connects creative inventors and social entrepreneurs with interested practitioners and organizations,

– showcases promising and approved technologies for development

– offers a platform for the exchange of knowledge, specific know-how and
practical experience in international workshops and local small group
sessions,

– promotes technology transfer and entrepreneurial thinking in social development,

– provides research findings on social and economic empowerment.
