Dazzle Angels

Dazzle Angels is a female focused angel fund, that is led and funded by experienced business women. Our angels not only invest their money, but also invest their time, skills and networks, which is where the real value lies. All of our angels are successful entrepreneurs or experts in their field, are passionate about building early-stage businesses, leveraging their skills and networks to help our Zebras build the next generation of female led businesses. We are looking for great businesses – businesses that solve a real problem, have a business model and will be sustainable – and happen to be founded or co-founded by at least one women, because we know (and stats show) that’s just better business. Our businesses seek to be Zebras* not unicorns, and equality for and empowering women is an integral part of their culture and DNA.

We want to be pioneers in the ways in which our future and economy can grow, by not only joining forces, but also in the way we encourage and uplift each other. Together, we can close the gender and diversity gap in entrepreneurship and venture funding.

Dazzle – a group of Zebras

We don’t want Unicorns, and we don’t believe that is what South Africa or Africa needs. We don’t want only one business in our portfolio to be a one hit wonder, but would rather have a whole group of great businesses, that are efficient, sustainable and display reliable growth in our portfolio. These zebras, in a collective form, are known as a dazzle. Our mission is ultimately to connect our Angels with a dazzle of sustainable, inclusive and community focused zebras which they can actively work with.

Why zebras?

• Zebras are real, unicorns are mythical
• Zebras are also mutualistic: by banding together in groups, they protect and preserve one another. Their individual input results in stronger collective output.
• Zebra companies are both black and white: they are profitable and improve society. They won’t sacrifice one for the other.
• Zebra companies are built with peerless stamina and capital efficiency, as long as conditions allow them to survive.
