Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA) South Africa, funded by the UK Government, has opened its fourth call for proposals. The programme supports the development and financing of low-carbon projects that contribute to South Africa’s transition to a net-zero economy.

Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply

The Climate Finance Accelerator South Africa is open to projects that meet the following requirements:

Project Requirements

  • Must be a low-carbon business or project operating in South Africa.
  • Require a minimum investment of USD $3 million.
  • Have completed a full feasibility study, including a technical and financial assessment confirming engineering design, costs, risks, and viability.
  • Preferably at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 7 or above, meaning the project has a full-scale pilot/product/service demonstrating operational performance.


Sector Focus
Eligible projects must operate in one of the following sectors:

  • Energy (renewables, energy efficiency)
  • Transport (low-carbon mobility solutions)
  • Waste management
  • Water (sustainable management or treatment solutions)
  • Sustainable agriculture (climate-smart and low-carbon farming solutions)
  • There are no nationality restrictions for applicants, but the projects must be based in South Africa and ready to receive investment.
