The Agritech4Kenya Innovation Challenge call for applications received an overwhelming response, with over 300 applications submitted, of which more than 70% were from Kenyan innovators. A competitive selection process using a multi-tiered process was utilized to identify the top 25 teams for participation in the bootcamp. The selection process considered applications that were aligned to Kenya’s priority areas that include sustainable agricultural production, improved market access and supply chain efficiency, gender equality and social inclusion, livestock health and disease management, equitable finance and investment mechanisms, and water use efficiency and sustainable irrigation practices. Additionally, applications were evaluated based on their alignment with at least one of the CGIAR Impact Areas, diversities of the team, and the applicant’s validated innovation.
On 29 November 2024, 25 innovation teams will convene at the Kenya Innovation Week hosted by the Kenya Innovation Agency (Kenya) in Nairobi, Kenya, to pitch their solutions. The event will serve as a platform for showcasing groundbreaking ideas and fostering collaboration among innovators, investors, and policymakers. Participants will have the opportunity to network, share knowledge, and gain valuable insights from industry experts. This event presents a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to connect with potential investors and partners, advancing the development of their innovative solutions.
