MEST Africa unveils top 5 startups vying for $50K equity prize in 2023 MEST Africa Challenge

The MEST Africa Challenge (MAC), an Africa-wide pitch competition for early-stage technology startups, is proud to announce the top 5 Regional Winners who will compete for the grand prize of USD 50,000 in equity.

These startups have emerged victorious after rigorous pitch sessions, beating out 40 competing startups from Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa. The finalists represent diverse sectors, including fintech, health tech, e-commerce, and edtech.

Chestify AI Labs Ghana

At Chestify, We are on a mission to aggressively tackle the socio-economic and health disparity created by the presence of fewer radiologists, high diagnostic inaccuracies and inadequate access to radiological infrastructure.

OneHealth Nigeria

OneHealth’s innovation stems from its comprehensive digital infrastructure, facilitating seamless connections among payers, providers, and patients. It ensures accessibility and affordability of quality healthcare, particularly through empowering telemedicine services and integrating microinsurance for individual customers. OneHealth’s scalable commerciality is demonstrated through partnerships with insurance companies, providers, telemedicine firms, pharmacies, and individual customers, promising widespread impact in improving access, affordability, and quality of healthcare across Nigeria and beyond.

Koa Academy South Africa

Koa Academy is Africa’s first fully online Pod school for grades 4-12, revolutionizing education with personalized learning, comprehensive curriculum, and a focus on real-world relevance. By embracing cutting-edge technologies and pedagogical approaches, Koa creates an immersive virtual learning environment. It fosters a vibrant community, promoting inclusivity, cultural diversity, and global perspectives.

Letaji (Kenya): Revolutionizing the construction industry, Letaji is an online marketplace streamlining the process of purchasing building materials. It connects homeowners, contractors, and hardware stores directly with top suppliers.

Sanya (Senegal): A visionary in IT edutainment, Sanya creates a unique blend of educational and entertainment digital products, fostering a community-based approach to tech learning for companies.

The finalists are expected to pitch for the winning prize money at the end of January, an event that will be organized and hosted by MEST Africa.
