Mobile Web West Africa 2013: Africa’s mobile focused conference is back!

Next week local and international experts in the mobile web space will converge on Lagos for the third edition of West Africa’s leading mobile focused conference, Mobile Web West Africa 2013.
The tech event takes place from May 7th to 10th at the Four Points by Sheraton in the Nigerian commercial capital. VC4Africa members get a discount at the MWWA2013 conference, and on Thursday May 9th we’re hosting a special VC4Africa meetup: join in if you can!

At Mobile Web West Africa 2013, speakers have been drawn from Qualcomm, Etisalat, MXit, VConnect, biNu, Thomson Reuters, iROKING, Jumia Nigeria, M-Net Africa, Spinlet, L5Lab, Eskimi, Guinness Nigeria and Airtel, among others. They will share tips and experiences through interactive discussions aimed at advancing the region’s growing mobile web sector.

“Mobile Web West Africa 2013 features our best speaker line-up yet and the industry support is above and beyond anything we’ve experienced before,” Matthew Dawes, the Event Director, says in a statement. “My hope is that the presentations, discussions and networking on offer will enable and facilitate growth… I look forward to arriving again in one of the most vibrant and fast paced mobile hubs in the world.”

For the first time, the 2013 edition features Mobile Marketing West Africa Focus Day. The mini-event holds on Tuesday May 7th. It will bring mobile marketing experts from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa to share best practice insights and case studies on mobile advertising, data & analytics, mobile social networks and location based services. Google, Konga, Wild Fusion, 2go, Twinpine and AdsBrook would be delivering presentations at the Focus Day.

The main conference takes place on May 8th and 9th, and an invite-only App Developer Day will run on May 10th featuring developers who seek to optimize and monetize their mobile apps. Top minds in mobile app development will also showcase their creations and compete for prizes during the App Developer Competition.

According to Event Director Matthew Dawes: “Without a doubt, everything is in place for this to be the best Mobile Web West Africa yet. We have assembled a superb speaker faculty and registered attendees include industry-leading mobile networks, handset manufacturers, brands, content providers, software solutions and mobile developers. MWWA2013 is going to be one for the history books.”

See the Mobile Web West Africa 2013 website for full details on the conference.
