VC4Africa hits 200 ventures and counting!

VC4Africa is pleased to announce we have 200 ventures published online. Today we welcomed Data Driven Insights from Uganda, a proven software program that monitors and measures media advertising.

Data Driven Insights is the 10th venture to register from Uganda.  South Africa leads the rankings with 40 ventures. Kenya ranks second with 37, followed by Nigeria with 29 and Cameroon with 20. Ghana follows up in the fourth spot with 12. The number of ventures registered on VC4Africa.biz gives an accurate overview of the continent’s entrepreneurial hotspots with South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria and Ghana ranked in the top five. VC4Africa also has a ranking for the most popular venture of all time. The ranking has recently seen some changes with South Africa’s Motivate My City claiming the top position. Also ventures from Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia recently climbing into the top of the charts.

Looking at the list of ventures ‘most popular in 30 days‘ gives an entirely different view. The ventures gaining the greatest traction over the past 30 days come from South Africa, Togo, Somalia, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria and Kenya. A healthy distribution that shows ventures from many corners of the continent and well beyond the urban centers such as Lagos and Nairobi. The diversity of ventures in different locations reflects the Internet’s ability to lower barriers to entry and allow entrepreneurs to make themselves known from wherever they might be located.

Entrepreneurs who have registered their venture on VC4Africa receive special access to a growing resource base. This includes registration in VC4Africa search, a downloadable 1 pager, ability to grow a dedicated following, source feedback on products & demo, make use of Free Feedback Fridays and the VC4Africa Mentorship program. Registered ventures are also eligible for the VC4Africa matchmaking program and improved access to our growing network of investors. Many ventures have reported they benefit directly from their participation in the program.

It is important to add that there are many draft ventures that have yet to be published to the website. Over the past six months, VC4Africa has been introducing an increasing number of tools and services entrepreneurs can tap into when working through their venture profiles. We have seen the overall quality increase month over month. This is a positive trend we seek to push forward. Every venture posted on VC4Africa is screened by the team and goes through a round of feedback. This review stage is used to help the entrepreneurs refine their pitches and ensure a higher quality of presentation. In the coming quarter, VC4Africa will be doing even more to help entrepreneurs through this stage and in a shared interest to accurately connect the entrepreneurs with the resources they need to grow.

We are pleased to have such quality entrepreneurs and ventures part of our network. We look forward to following their progress and to doing whatever we can to help book more successes. If you are building a promising business and want to connect with our network in 159 countries be sure to register your  venture today!
