FINANCING AND DONATIONS

The IDB Group, which consists of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), IDB Invest and IDB Lab, offers flexible financial solutions to its member countries to finance economic and social development through loans and grants to public and private entities in Latin America and the Caribbean. The IDB Group is the main source of financing for the development of Latin America and the Caribbean. The group helps to improve lives by providing financial solutions and development knowledge to clients in both the public and private sectors. The group is made up of the IDB, which has worked with governments for 60 years; IDB Invest, which collaborates with the private sector and IDB Lab, which experiences innovative ways to drive more inclusive growth.

The IDB Group’s financial products include: loans, grants, guarantees, and investments (the latter available from IDB Invest and BID Lab). The Bank also finances national and regional technical cooperation programs in areas ranging from institutional strengthening to knowledge transfer.

The Bank’s loans and grants to member countries are financed from four sources: subscriptions and contributions from member countries, loans from the financial markets and accumulated capital since the Bank’s inception, and joint financing. These resources are available to borrowers through the Ordinary Capital (CO), the Fund for Special Operations (FOE), the IDB Grants Fund, the Intermediate Financing Facility, and various Funds in Administration, established by individual countries or groups of countries.
