What makes an Entrepreneur?

About this Event

The purpose of the Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Forum is to create a platform for strategic engagement between role-players involved in entrepreneurial development. In accordance, a series of engagements between the private and public sectors involved in entrepreneurship development are hosted with the aim of facilitating the sharing of experiences, successes, and lessons learned, in pursuit of accelerating entrepreneurial development.

In 2012 the Foundation developed its programmes Success profile, which serves as an Entrepreneurial measurement framework for potential and performance of candidates and programme participants. The Success Profile also aligns the selection benchmarks of the targeted programme participants to the expected future performance of High Impact Entrepreneurs. As an organisation that consistently seeks to enhance its impact by using evidence to improve its programmes offering; in 2018, we set out to review our selection tools and curriculum. Thus, we surveyed 1200 startup and established entrepreneurs to confirm the behavioural competencies that lead to entrepreneurial action. We are excited to announce that the study identified 14 behavioural competencies upon which organisations and those interested in entrepreneurship development can base the selection, development and measurement of South African entrepreneurs.
