Going into its fourth year, AfricArena has the privilege of operating in three key spheres that underpin Africa’s economic landscape. These being: tech startups, corporations, and investors (i.e. angel investors, VCs, CVCs and other institutional investors). Through open innovation challenges, in partnership with corporations, we aim to bring together these 3 spheres, to foster co-investment and collaboration that can move the economies and people of the continent forward.
This research provides insight into the opportunities, challenges and trends in tech innovation and investment in Africa, from the perspectives of startup founders, investors and corporates. When it comes to VC funding in Africa in recent years, we see a consistent upward trend. The report unpacks the stories behind the numbers – analyzing key performing sectors; profiling innovative startups; exploring the various funding options available to founders; exploring how founders fund their businesses; why and how corporations utilize open innovation strategies, and a general oversight of the tech ecosystem in Africa.
The online event will include: a welcome, introduction and short insights presentation from the AfricArena team, followed by a discussion with esteemed guests invited to share their thoughts on some of the key topics of the report.
