In partnership with USAID, Project Last Mile is seeking to identify enterprises who demonstrate a proven or promising innovation to address emerging disease prevention and/or control, are poised for growth, and would benefit from Project Last Mile’s technical assistance.
Each enterprise will be matched with a PLM Subject Matter Expert (SME) and will gain one-on-one technical advice, coaching, and mentoring support to design a solution to a key business challenge being faced by the enterprise. Enterprises may also be eligible for up to a maximum of US$200,000 in grant funding, in addition to separate technical assistance.
To support USAID Global Health Security (GHS) objectives, this program will aim to identify and strengthen market entry and scale-up of health innovations that can strengthen prevention, detection, and/or response for infectious disease threats around the world.
Solutions should focus on late-stage development of a small form factor biomedical technology and support the following GHS Program objectives:
- Reduced spillover of emerging infectious diseases (EIDs) in humans or animals from
which zoonotic pathogens spillover; - Improved detection and/or identification of potential or real pathogens associated with
EIDs; and/or - Improved understanding of the epidemiology of EIDs among humans, animals, insects,
and/or the environment.
Solutions may include any new / emerging technologies, products, processes, or approaches that can support the key program objectives outlined below:
- Prevent disease outbreaks
- Detect threats early
- Respond rapidly and effectively when outbreaks occur
