Yaaya Marketplace (Pvt) Ltd Circular food innovation turning food loss into export value

Yaaya Marketplace (Pvt) Ltd is developing Blooming Foods, a circular food innovation platform that reduces post-harvest vegetable loss in Sri Lanka. Starting with brinjal, we plan to expand into more vegetables by transforming rejected but food-safe and cosmetically imperfect produce into premium freeze-dried export snacks, including Blooming Brinjal Flower Chips and export-ready strip chips. Unfit produce and processing off-cuts are directed into biogas production, with liquid bio-fertilizer returned to partner farmers to support safer farming, circular resource recovery and more sustainable, environmentally friendly agricultural practices.

Our model creates higher value from rejected but food-safe and cosmetically imperfect produce — turning “Ugly to Wow” — while supporting fair farmer pricing, reducing food waste, testing sustainable packaging solutions and building a premium Sri Lankan food brand for local and international markets.
