Over 17 million Malawi’s population 89.9% is comprised of the youth who are struggling to secure jobs. The unemployment rate has gone up to 20.4% in 2019 which is alarming in as far as bad behaviours of frastrated youths are concerned. In a bid to cube unemployment crisis, WHOA INTERNATIONAL with support from KFW and matching grant facility got an expeller machine and auto bottle filler to establish a local cooking oil factory which will see the reduction of the rate of unemployment in Malawi as well as uplift the livelihoods of local farmers. We also understand that the malnutrition level is also alarming among the under five children in the district of Mchinji. Hence, the cooking which is rich in vitamins will go along way in addressing this pressing issue.
So far our intervention has employed a good number of youths in selling, distribution, accounting and others on commission basis.
We are looking to expand our venture by planting a refinary machine instead of crude oil.
