Virgin Dairy Ltd (VDL) is a for-profit social enterprise seeking to produce raw milk commercially for the local Zambian market which is currently faced with a milk deficit of up to 1,000,000 litres of milk and milk equivalent products on a daily basis.

Considering all the available resource inputs for milk production in Zambia (land, favourable climate and water), there is no justification for the importation of dairy products. Furthermore, the fact that 40% of Zambia’s children under the age of 5 are stunted as a result of malnutrition is appalling.

Virgin Dairy is acquiring the Diamondale Dairy Farm from Galaunia Farms Ltd with a plan to scale-up quality milk production to supply large FMCG manufacturers such as Trade Kings; in addition to social milk distribution under its foundation and retail milk sales under the Virgin Dairy brand.
