African venture capital investment surged, reaching $5.2 billion in 2021, up from $1.43B in 2020 marking a remarkable 264% YoY growth. In 2022, total funding (equity and debt) increased by 8% YoY to US$6.5B, and 764 deals were completed. Despite a 2023 decline, the ecosystem remains robust. In 2022, the sector created 34,000 jobs, indicating its growing significance. Assuming a conservative 5% growth rate in 2024, a focus on mid to senior-level positions, and a $4,000 average cost per hire, Venture for Africa estimates this serviceable addressable market to be around $75 million in 2024.
