Our vision is a world where refugees never suffer from language barriers, regardless of whether they are stuck in a camp or resettling in a new country – a world where refugees can get their voice back. Refugees deserve the dignity of language access, which reduces inequality to services and improves humanitarian outcomes in health, asylum, education, aid delivery, employment, and more. Language access requires trusted platforms and communities and our vision is to efficiently mobilize millions of volunteer’s remote skills to help refugees in need right from their phones. We plan to sustain this by starting a Humanitarian Engineering movement – a global hub of volunteer engineers working on technology to improve the lives of refugees and ultimately build a pathway to economic empowerment for refugees where they can become paid translators and interpreters.
We need the following languages: Kinyarwanda, Swahili, Twi, Lingala, Sango, Tigrinya, Amharic
