~100m adult Nigerians are financially underserved. At least $9.2Bn in market value. Africa is about ~5x of this number. We created STEP to serve the financially underserved. Through our research, we quickly realised that people were financially underserved because they lack transaction history/financial identity. An individual bank statement serves as their financial identity. What happenes when a person doesn’t have a bank account or irregulary uses their bank account? – Lack of financial access/services. STEP financially serves the underserved in two ways: 1. Cash digitization: STEP digitizes cash payments in the Transport, Electricity and MSME retail space, enabling users that engage in these spaces, have financial tranasaction history. 2. Transaction History as a service: STEP uses the transaction history of users to provide them with tailored credit and savings products.
