As of 2005, Nigeria has the highest rate of deforestation in the world according to the Food and Agriculture Organization. As at 2018, Nigeria has lost 96 % of its forest and the Shea trees is one of the most endangered economic tree. Over 400,000 rural women depends on the Shea trees for survival.
