Ressourc’In: Waste upcycling as a sustainable solution for professional inclusion of youth and women in Casablanca.
Unemployment of youth and families living in vulnerable areas is a major issue in the city of Casablanca. Public authorities do not give priority to urban waste management, which leads to environmental and public health issues. “Ressourc’In” project proposes a solution to both of these issues, transforming collection and urban waste upcycling into an economic opportunity for the disadvantaged population. Through the project, Ressourc’In trains 30 beneficiaries, aged 16-35, from the disadvantaged areas of Ben Msik and Moulay Rachid, in waste collection, paper-plastic-fabric recycling and life skills.
As result of the project, today, 22000 Kgs of waste were collected and recycled and 80 youth were trained from wich 67% benefited from professional inclusion.
