Macassar Pottery is a profitable ceramic manufacturing and tourism company. We upskill and incubate youth who have not completed school, building pathways out of poverty for some of the 400 000 youths who leave SA’s school system every year.
We meet youths where they are at and provide pre-incubation programmes. Once they are ready, we have a pre-designed through-put system where they build a basic skills set with which they earn while learning. Productivity is a key part of earning back one’s dignity. They first work in a factory environment. This provides the opportunity to catch up, and discover what they are good at. We then help them access further training in the area of their particular skill, with the end goal of establishing them as intra- or entrepreneurs in their own right.
Thanks to significant business growth we are in the planning stages to extend our approach into our host community.
