1 in 5 Nigerians suffer a mental illness on the average. currently, 20% of the nigerian population suffers from one form of mental illness. Come 2050, the majority of the African population would comprise of children ages 0 – 18 and we see a surge in adolescent depression, suicide and anxiety. Mental illnesses are reported to start at an average age of 14 (WHO) though most go unreported.

Depression is on the rise as a result of scarcity of natural resources and the rise in population is only going to make life harder.
