MARAMOJA is a machine-learning startup with proprietary innovations (patents pending in Kenya and US) in the field of trust recommendations. We use these trust recommendations to power our taxi app in Nairobi and now franchises across Africa.
Founded in 2013 as a Kenya Limited Liability Company, we sought to be the Uber for Africa. MM quickly realized that interpersonal trust was at the center of most taxi transactions and began iterating on this concept – arriving at a socially powered taxi app that leverages users’ and drivers’ data and personal networks to give users the ability to choose the taxi they prefer, and meaningful data points to make those choices.
In time we came to realize the power of our trust engine to connect consumers with trusted service providers across nearly any sector, platform, or app. The data we gather from our taxi app, in the hands of MM’s world class machine learning experts is the key to training our unique trust engine to make the best predictions of user preferences, which in turn forms the bridge to our end goal of providing trust infrastructure for the sharing economy.
