At Sarmies, we are building a modular, repairable school shoe system designed to reduce the total cost of ownership for low-income families while creating local jobs.

Traditional school shoes are bought, worn, and discarded—forcing repeated full replacement. We replace this with a circular model: shoes are assembled locally through Maker micro-hubs, designed for component replacement, and supported by repair loops that extend product life.

Our pilot deploys 500 pairs across 5–7 public schools in the Western Cape, validating a 30–40% reduction in annual household cost versus retail alternatives, while enabling distributed income through local Makers.

Sarmies is the entry point into Manifest: a decentralised manufacturing and lifecycle platform, with future layers in payments, credit, and insurance built on top of product usage and identity.
