M-shamba is a mobile based B2B platform that supports farmers to produce quality and safe foods thereafter buying this produce from the smallholder farmers and distributing it to the small and medium sized vendors in urban areas across Kenya. The farmers have a guaranteed market and are paid instantly at the farm gate using mobile money and the vendors are assured of reliable sourcing of high quality and affordable products. The demand from the pool of vendors is properly matched with the supply from the smallholder farmers thus reducing post-harvest losses exponentially. M-shamba works with over 12,000 smallholder farmers in potato, tomato, banana and indigenous chicken value chains and over 2,000 registered vendors trading over 1000 metric tonnes of produce weekly.
