Kuria Foundation for Social Enterprise -KFSE, is pioneering Impact Investing as an innovative approach to increasing financial resources available for advancing of human rights of sexual and gender minorities (SGM/LGBTQ+). Impact investing has the potential to alter the approach taken by many Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) human rights supporters in Africa. International donor funding to LGBTQ+ causes is shrinking in a context of growing need and it’s often presented as foreign attempt to corrupt African values – even though human rights violations against LGBTQ+ persons including laws criminalizing them are ever so salient. KFSE seeks to issue Impact Investment Note to the investors to be invested in the 364-day Treasury bills, with the aim of financing its 2021 – 2024 Strategic plan.
