Mobile Money has grown, but global online payments using this system still lags behind due to one of its inherent limitations: Mobile Money is not global; if you integrate it into your online store, you can’t sell worldwide. If a mobile money user wishes to buy from a store in a country which doesn’t use mobile money, they’re limited. Even if the store accepts mobile money payments, the user will be limited if their mobile operator is not listed among accepted mobile money operators for that store. The same goes for sending and receiving money.
Kavawire bridges this gap by letting mobile money users build stores which accept credit card, bank and virtual currency payments, without the store owners necessarily needing to own accounts with these payment providers. It also lets users willing to make payments to services not accepting mobile money to do so by instantaneously converting their mobile money assets to forms accepted by these services.
