Inovagri Lda Local fishmeal for sustainable livestock and fish feeding

INOVAGRI is a Mozambique-based agribusiness preparing to launch local fishmeal production using catfish sourced from community outgrowers. The venture aims to substitute imported fishmeal currently used in the production of industrial animal feed, including aquaculture feed, reducing costs, supply risks and environmental footprint while creating local value and rural income.
Mozambique imports over 80% of its fishmeal despite abundant potential for freshwater fish farming and significant post-harvest losses. At the same time, feed producers face volatile prices and unreliable imports across multiple feed segments. INOVAGRI addresses this structural gap by developing an integrated value chain where rural cooperatives raise catfish, INOVAGRI processes it into high-quality fishmeal, and an anchor buyer absorbs the output under a long-term offtake agreement.
