iFishFarm Uganda iFishFarm stays for inclusive Fish Farming

iFishFarm is a social enterprise rearing tilapia fish in offshore floating cages while preserving the ecosystem of Bugala island, a socially distressed context where the local communities suffer from unemployment and high rate of people living with HIV-AIDS. iFishFarm selects and trains vulnerable women to grow its fish and rewards them with bonus shares based on performance. Groups of unemployed youth are also selected to seasonally help in operations such as harvesting, offloading of feeds, and other strength-demanding tasks. Protein-rich fresh fish produce, high in omega-3 and antibiotics-free, is distributed in the region, with the passion of an employee-owned farm.
