My name is Viviana Otalvaro. Founder of Hugger Island. We design tools to promote emotional well-being, that is, we teach what to do with rage, fear or sadness. I specialized in biodesign and I was a researcher for more than 12 years. There I found myself a scientific article that talked about how affection improves the conditions of people with cancer and I shaped something that I had designed years ago. A hug. A being that exists to embrace. It comes with a book telling its story. He is born on an island, he has no eyes ears or mouth because everything does with the heart, from there he speaks and listens and through his history we teach. A character in the book is called Bonga, and it has hide-hide skin, it is camouflaged between the trees and the leaves as the people you can’t see and you can feel.
